Greetings,

My name is Taj Utsey and I am the founder of TRU Financial Coaching and a FCMT certified financial coach. Prior to 2020, my financial life consisted of earning an above average American income, receiving annual raises, financing cars, etc. I was living, what many consider, the “American Dream”. Until I woke up!

With the shutdown of the world as a result of COVID-19, I was able to reflect on my financial life. Despite earning an above average income, why was I living paycheck to paycheck? Despite all of the raises, why can’t I get ahead financially? Despite working since I was 16 years old, why am I one paycheck away from possibly losing everything that I thought I “owned”?
